Items for Prayer w/c 10th January 2016

World –Continue to pray for Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan and various countries in Africa where there is unrest, war and famine. Pray for governments around the world as they tackle terrorism together and for solutions to be found. As North Korea once again make claims around nuclear bomb production in the country pray for the international community as they continue to discuss and issue sanctions. Pray that solutions will present themselves and that governments will work together to limit the impact of this technology in the wrong hands.

UK – Pray for communities and families in Scotland, Cumbria and beyond who are still suffering from the effects of flooding in their homes. Continue to pray for relief agencies, local government and all those who are working together to clear up and rebuild. Pray for our economy after global pressures this week continue to have a detrimental effect on the UK’s finances. Pray that solutions will be found to navigate a path through and we will not see another economic downturn. Pray particularly for the vulnerable and poorer families who will be most significantly hit by any downward trend.

Church and Community – Pray for God’s love to be with Ethan, Lilly and Penelope and their family and friends as they come for baptism today and begin their journey of faith. Pray for our 92Teens as they meet for the first time after Christmas this week. In the final week for applications continue to pray for the right person to be appointed as youth worker here at St James and for the community. Pray for our drop in and for all those who come, that it will be a real place of welcome and friendship and a place where people can come and feel safe and in God’s presence.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly Sylvia L, Joyce, Jean G, Jean D and Doreen. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Anne Brownlee, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
