World – After another terrorist attack, this time in Baghdad, pray for those who are caught up in extremism and bigotry and for all those who are victims of these outrages and for family and friends who are left without loved ones. After two incidents in America this week of police shootings and demonstrations as racial tensions grow pray for all those involved and particularly for the families of those how have lost loved ones. Pray for America as the presidential campaigning continues and that voters will be able to choose the best candidate to lead the world’s most influential country. Continue to pray for places in our world where there is war and unrest, particularly Syria, the Ukraine and Africa. Away from media attention the Taliban is still active in Afghanistan after troops have been withdrawn. Pray for the fledgling democratic government there to be able to withstand against these attacks and to build a better and democratic country for all.
UK – Continue to pray for our country as we go through political turmoil and as answers and a way forward seem to still be unclear after the EU referendum. Pray for politicians from all sides and for our country in these turbulent times. Pray for the Scottish government as they look to the possibility of a second referendum for independence and for unity across the country both in Scotland and across the UK. After the Chilcott report being published this week pray for the families of those who lost loved ones in the war in Iraq and Afghanistan as suggestions grow of an unlawful war. Pray for junior doctors in their dispute with the government as new contracts that affect working hours will be forced upon them.
Church and Community – Pray for Bishop Steven and Ann as they prepare to leave the Diocese for Oxford. Pray for good endings and farewells and pray for them as a couple as they begin a new period in their lives and ministry in a new Diocese. Pray for 92Teens as they meet for the last time before the summer break and for a good sense of relationship and care for each other within the group. Pray for David and the team today at the Olympic family day at Herringthorpe that this this will a good day of worship, fun and time together for all those families that attend. Pray for the friendship group as it meets this week and for all those who go who are missing loved ones and June and the team as they lead the group. Pray for Aidan, Oliver and Charlotte and their family and friends as they come for baptism today and as they begin their journey of faith.
Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly Linda, Amy, Sue Stewart, Derek Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer and Sylvia L. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Mavis Rixham, June Craig and James Arthur, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
