Items for Prayer w/c 11th June 2017

World –In a week which saw further attacks and civilian casualties across the world, pray for all victims of war and protect those who are committed to peace. Pray for all those across the world who are affected by extremism and hatred and help them to find the path back to God. Remember in your prayers the victims of the attacks in Iran and pray that their families are able to feel God’s love and protection at this time. Pray for peace across the Middle East following these attacks. In a week which saw extreme weather across the world claim lives, pray for the families of the victims.

UK – Following further terrorist attacks in London this week pray for the victims and innocent people who were caught up in these events.  Pray for healing of the hearts and minds of the people who witnessed this attack, may God comfort them in the coming days. Pray for the spirit of wisdom, understanding and tolerance to prevail in our communities so as to promote an atmosphere of peace. Pray for the police, armed forces and security services, that they may be given wisdom to combat extremism and the strength to uphold law and justice. Following the general election, pray for the government to make informed choices and that God will be with them through this period of uncertainty and change.  Pray for our economy, for those most affected and whose status in this country is uncertain and for sensible debate.

Church and Community – Pray for the new Bishop of Sheffield the Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox and that he will bring unity in our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. As Dave, Verity and the boys prepare to leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings for both them and all here at Woodhouse and in the community. Pray for the development of the Mission Partnership and the continuing unity of St James.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Philip, Bobby, Jax, Paula, Savannah, Pat, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, including the family of Winfrede Bennett and Jaqueline Knight, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
