Items for Prayer w/c 13th August 2017

World – Pray for countries which continue to experience war and unrest, particularly Syria, Israel and countries across Africa. Pray for all the people who continue to feel unsafe in the place that they call home, that God will grant them peace and happiness. Pray for the people of Congo and South Sudan as they continue to experience civil unrest and the horrors of ethnic cleansing, that they will be protected and continue their journey with God. In a time of increasing tensions between America and North Korea, pray that they will be guided by God to find a peaceful path.

UK – Pray for those who are living below the poverty line in our country and are reliant on benefits which continue to be cut and are driving the demand for food banks and pay day lenders. Pray particularly for children in these families who are undernourished and are suffering in many ways because of badly thought through policies by our government. Pray for those in our country who are the most vulnerable, for the disabled, for the elderly and for those in abusive relationships that they will in some way find release and rest from their troubles. Pray for the Church in our country and for Christians to be a force for good in the places where they live and work.

Church and Community – During these school holidays pray for families in our community as they go on holiday and for good times together.  Pray that whether away or at home this will be a good period of rest and pray for parents as they balance childcare, activities and for peace and calm to be among all these families over this long break from school. Pray for the hundreds of Christian camps, beach missions and events taking place over the summer that these will be a positive experience for all those who attend and will be good places of growth and discipleship.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Philip, Bobby, Jax, Paula, Savannah, Pat, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
