Items for Prayer w/c 13th March 2016

World –After the closure of the Balkan migrant route to northern Europe by a number of countries pray for the continued humanitarian crisis for Syrian refugees and for the governments in Greece and Turkey who are currently taking the brunt of the conflict. Pray for the EU and other countries to work together and that the agreement hammered out in Brussels to rehouse refugees in all countries in Europe will hold. Continue to pray for world governments as they continue to negotiate peace talks between both sides in Syria. Continue to pray for Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan and various countries in Africa where there is unrest, war and famine. As the Zika virus continues to spread in countries in Africa and South and North America pray for scientists as they search for a cure and solution to the virus.

UK – As political rhetoric turns to jobs and the economy in the EU debate about remaining within the EU continue to pray that voters will understand the full facts and impacts of either remaining within or leaving the EU. Pray for politicians to present information fairly and with the least of amount of political bias and self ambition and the best outcome for our country is achieved. After further strikes by junior doctors this work continue to hold our NHS in your prayers and all those who work in the service. After a report this week that energy prices should be reduced, particularly for those most vulnerable and on low incomes pray that that the energy companies will act swiftly to implement these proposed changes.

Church and Community – Continue to pray for discussions taking place between our parish and those in the local area as plans are presented to chapter, the deanery synod and the Diocese to work with fewer clergy numbers and how we might partner with other parishes to continue God’s mission in this area of Sheffield. Pray for Karen, Debora and Lesley as they prepare and organise for our Churches Together holiday club during Holy Week. Pray that God is already preparing the hearts of those children who will attend and that they will learn more of the love God has for them. Pray for Woodhouse West school as they visit church this week for their Easter service and that it will a be a time of real joy and celebration for children, staff and parents who come.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly June Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer, Joyce, June Fox, Sylvia L, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
