Items for Prayer w/c 15th January 2017

World – Pray for America this week as the new president is sworn in on Friday and for the Obama’s as they leave the White House. Pray that Donald Trump will govern for all people and will be worthy of the people’s trust who have voted him in to be the President. Pray for Syria and the whole of the Middle East amidst continued fighting and war. Amidst allegations of hacking and spying pray for relations between the US and Russia and remember in your prayers the people of Ukraine as fighting and unrest continues, particularly in the disputed Crimea annex. As devastating weather sweeps through Europe pray for people particularly in Germany and France who have been hit by these storms and are without electrical power.

UK – Continue to pray for the NHS after claims of a crisis in the service particularly in A&E services and after storms and bad weather adding to the situation. Pray for doctors, nurses, health professionals and all those who are working in this crucial front line service. Pray for ministers and our government as they head towards a formal triggering of article 50 and the beginning of negotiations for Brexit. Pray that the best interests of all will prevail in this difficult situation. As the second trial of Rolf Harris continues pray for all victims of abuse both historical and current and for justice to prevail in these cases. As prosecutions surrounding the Hillsborough are submitted to the CPS pray also for justice for the family of the victims.

Church and Community – After a break in at the church this week please pray for God’s protection on the building and thank God that little was taken. Pray for the perpetrators and for their circumstances that have driven them to this crime. Pray for all our activities here at St James as we start to open our groups again after the winter break and as we head into a New Year pray that new ways will opened to bless people in our community. Pray for our Messy Church as they meet tomorrow and for all those that come that they will know and hear god’s love in their lives. Pray for who are attending our CY and Christianity Explored courses over the coming weeks. Pray they will gain a new understanding of who God is and what the Christian faith can mean in their lives.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly David, Rebecca, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G, Jean D, Doreen and Mavis. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Gladys Drakeford, Thomas Day, Joan Brown, Jonathan Simons and Mackay Gibson that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
