World –Continue to pray for Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan and various countries in Africa where there is unrest, war and famine. Pray for governments around the world as they tackle terrorism together and for solutions to be found. After President Obama’s final state of the union address this week pray for him and his administration as they seek to end his term of office well and for the US as they begin in earnest the process of electing a new president. Pray for global relations with the US and other states, particularly Iran, Cuba and Russia, and that the new president will be seen as a good representative of change and reconciliation on the global stage .
UK – Pray for the dispute between junior doctors and the government regarding working conditions and pay and that sensible discussion and negotiation will take place between both sides and this dispute is quickly resolved. After reports this week that communication between the CPS and victims of crime is sometimes poor and inadequate, pray for all those who have been affected by crime in our country and for healing, reconciliation and forgiveness.
Church and Community – Pray for God’s love to be with Millicent and her family and friends as she is baptised today and begins her journey of faith. Pray for the Archbishop of Canterbury after meeting Primates from the global Anglican communion this week. In this week of Christian Unity pray that global differences over key theological issues will be worked through together and if possible solutions found. Pray for our local Churches Together network as we meet together next Sunday. Pray also for our wider links in our deanery as the archdeacon meets with local clergy this week to discuss Diocesan plans for staffing and mission partnerships.
Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly Joyce, Sylvia L, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
