World –In a week which saw further attacks and civilian casualties across the world, pray for all victims of war and protect those who are committed to peace. Pray for all those across the world who are affected by extremism and hatred and help them to find the path back to God. Following further air strikes in Syria, which have caused a huge loss of innocent civilian lives, pray for humanitarian aid to reach people who are in need and bring them comfort in God’s Grace. Pray that leaders will choose peace and compassion over violence and reconciliation with their perceived enemies. Remember in your prayers all those affected by the polio outbreak in Africa and pray for the scientists who are striving to eradicate this disease.

Following the general election and a week on political uncertainty, pray for the government to make informed choices and that God will be with them through this period of instability and change.  Pray for our economy, for those most affected and whose status in this country is uncertain and for sensible debate.

Church and Community – Pray for the new Bishop of Sheffield the Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox and that he will bring unity in our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. As Dave, Verity and the boys prepare to leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings for both them and all here at Woodhouse and in the community. Pray for the development of the Mission Partnership and the continuing unity of St James. Pray for all those due to be baptised at St James this week and their family and friends.

Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, including the family of David Davis, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
