World – Continue to pray for Syria and the whole of the Middle East amidst continued fighting and war and for the Gambia as the government goes through turbulent times and disputes over elections. As Holland goes to the polls later this month pray for God’s will in this crucial election which will have far ranging effects both in the country and further afield in the EU. As bushfires ravage the Australian state of New South Wales pray for residents of a small town who have seen their houses destroyed by the out of control flames. After more tests by North Korea of missiles pray for the country and particularly for the oppressed population in this closed communist country.
UK – After the death of a 10 year school in Berkshire this week pray for his family and friends as they start to deal with his tragic death. Continue to pray for our government as they head towards a formal triggering of article 50 and the beginning of negotiations for Brexit. Pray that the best interests of all will prevail in this difficult situation. Continue to pray for the NHS and all those who work in the health professions. Pray for government strategies to be in the best interests of patients and political posturing will not get in the way of providing the very best care for all. Pray for those who are struggling to buy their own home amidst a property stock crisis and for our government as they announce measures to provide more affordable homes across the country.
Church and Community – After the announcement of our new Diocesan Bishop please pray for Philip North as he takes up this important role and for all those who will be under his authority. Pray for our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. Pray for James and Laura as they bring Ivy for baptism today and for the family and all their friends as they join us for our service. Pray for them as a family that they will know God’s love today and as they move forward together teaching Ivy, Oscar and Poppy about the love God has for them. Pray for pupils and staff at our local schools this week as they enter half term. Pray for rest and good family times together. Pray particularly for families who will find extra time together more difficult and for a sense of peace and calm to be in these homes. Pray for Dave and the family as they take some time away this week and for them to find rest after a busy Christmas and New Year period.
Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Ann, Linda, David, Rebecca, Tony, Cassie and Bobby, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of John Sheldon and Michael Horsfield, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
