Items for Prayer w/c 19th June 2016

World – Please pray for the loved ones of those who murdered in the Orlando attacks. Pray for those who are caught up in extremism and bigotry. Pray also for America and the gun laws they have and for sensible solutions and discussions around this difficult situation. As President Obama and the Delai Lama meet this week pray for China and for social reform in the country. Pray for the many who are oppressed because of opposition towards the state or for religious affiliations. Continue to pray for places in our world where there is war and unrest, particularly Syria, the Ukraine and North Korea.

UK – As the EU referendum takes place this week pray that voters will be able to make an informed and intelligent decision on the future of our country and we will relate to the rest of Europe. Continue praying for pupils in our local secondary schools taking GCSE’s and A-Levels. After significant changes in all these tests pray for children to do the best they can on the day and for them to remain calm and stress free. As figures this week have been released regarding record levels of employment in our country thank God that many people are finding work. Give praise also for the increase in salaries due in part to the new level of the national minimum wage and pray that this government will continue to place worker’s rights at the forefront of their thinking.

Church and Community – After our deanery has agreed to plans to move forward in partnership continue to pray for local plans in our deanery and with ecumenical colleagues to work closer together and for God to guide us as a church as to how we should go about this task. Pray for Dave as he takes on the role of Attercliffe Area Dean and for the time this will take in a changing deanery. Pray for those who attend our Messy Church this week and for Tara and the team as they lead and teach. Thank God that Messy Church group has become such a great place of support and fun for families. Pray for new people who come along that they will find a place of welcome, love and care.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly Linda, Shannon, June and Derek Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer, Sylvia L, Will’s Mum and Dad, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Myrtle Wombell and Karen Myers, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
