On the back of this trial and after inquiries set up to look at the police response at Orgreave and the sexual exploitation cases in Rotherham pray for our police force and for a way forward. In the upcoming elections for a Police Commissioner in our area pray for wisdom and the right candidate to be elected at a time of upheaval and where serious questions need to be asked. Continue to pray for local council elections, referendum debates, the ongoing junior doctors dispute and the NHS in general and for schools being forced into academy status. Pray for pupils in the next few weeks who will begin primary testing through SAT’s and secondary school children beginning GCSE’s and A-Levels. After significant changes in all these tests pray for children to do the best they can on the day and for them to remain calm and stress free.
Church and Community – Pray for local plans in our deanery and with ecumenical colleagues to work closer together and for God to guide us as a church as to how we should go about this task. Thank God for growing numbers at our Tots group and pray for all those who attend that they will find a real welcome and something of God’s love. Thank God for our children’s workers particularly Laura, Lizzie, Rosie, Suzanna, Tara and Verity and all the Messy church team for their dedication and time and continue to pray that through these activities we will see our children grow in faith and knowledge of God. Pray for David and he heads up our youth work and for Jamie as he helps at 92Teens. Give them a real sense of God’s plan for the youth here in Woodhouse and for others to be ignited into a passion for youth work in our community.
Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly June and Derek Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer, Sylvia L, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of John Maliszewski and John Moore that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
