Items for Prayer w/c 23rd July 2017

World – Pray for countries which continue to experience war and unrest, particularly Syria, Israel and countries across Africa. Pray for all the people who continue to feel unsafe in the place that they call home, that God will grant them peace and happiness. Remember in your prayers all those affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Greece, that they will be protected by the peace of the Lord. Pray for the emergency services and aid agencies who are providing support to all those affected. Pray for all those affected by the recent attacks across Israel, that God will bring comfort to those who have lost loved ones and protect the vulnerable.

UK –Amid escalating community tensions, pray that God will guide us to love our neighbour as we love ourselves. As a new report highlights the increase in child homelessness, pray that the government and councillors will work together to help the most vulnerable in our society. Pray for all the children affected by life changing illnesses and their family and friends, that they will feel God’s love and guiding hand on their journey. Pray for the continuing work of the NHS and that there will be respect and understanding between the government and health professionals. Thank God for the gift of health services in our country and pray for doctors and nurses to be granted the gift of healing, caring and compassion.

Church and Community – As the schools in our local area finish for the summer pray for children and teachers as they have a time of rest and recuperation and for families as they spend more time together. Pray for those who go on holiday, to be safe and for relaxation and for those who are unable to go far but that they too will find times of rest and joy to be together. As Dave, Verity and the boys leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings. Pray for the development of the Mission Partnership and the continuing unity of St James. Pray for all those due to be baptised at St James this week.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Naomi, Philip, Bobby, Jax, Paula, Savannah, Pat, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
