Items for Prayer w/c 23rd October 2016

World –Continue to pray for those places in our world where there is unrest, war and troubles. Pray particularly for Syria and particularly civilians who find themselves targets in military strikes. As the date of the election approaches and the campaign continues in a most unpleasant way continue to pray for the American people who have a difficult decision ahead of them in the upcoming presidential elections. As tensions with Russia remain in the international community pray for peace and a rebuilding of relationships. Pray for all those involved with the fight against IS and for a change of heart and God’s peace to come. Pray particularly for those civilians caught up in fighting and for children and families as they flee conflict.

UK – As schools break up this week for half term in England pray for pupils, teachers and support staff as they take a break from the busyness of schools. Pray for parents and families as they spend time together that this will be an enjoyable time of fun and relaxation. As Theresa May meets with other EU leaders pray for continued good relations with other EU countries and leaders. After concerns this week about conditions in some of Britain’s prisons pray for safety for inmates, staff and visitors and that proper protocols are in place and guidelines are followed.

Church and Community – Continue to prayer for the vacancy-in-see committee as they work with the Archbishops’ and Prime Minister’s Secretaries for Appointments in our Diocese as they look to discern who the next bishop of Sheffield might be. Pray during this busy week of outreach to children and young people that through our holiday club and Fresh Café they will hear God’s word in their hearts. Pray for Karen as she comes to lead the holiday club and for all those who have volunteered as well as David and the team at the café and ask for God’s anointing on their work. Pray for Suzanna and the team as they offer an alternative to Halloween at our light party on Saturday and for the children who come see the positive light of Jesus in their lives.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Sylvia, Jean G, Jean D, Doreen, Rosie, Jane O, Mavis and James. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of William Pridmore, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
