Items for Prayer w/c 24th July 2016

World – Pray for the family and friends of those who lost loved ones and for the victims who survived the attack in Nice and for those who have lost loved ones in the shootings in Munich. Pray for the authorities in France, Germany and around Europe as they respond to these tragic events. Pray for America as the presidential campaigning continues and that voters will be able to choose the best candidate to lead the world’s most influential country. Continue to pray for places in our world where there is war and unrest, particularly Syria, the Ukraine and Africa. Pray for Turkey after the attempted coup and a democratic and progressive regime to be installed in the country.  After allegations of fraud and corruption in Malaysia pray for the government there, for transparency and for the people of that country.

UK – As our new Prime Minister meets with heads of state in other EU countries this week pray for her and the new cabinet. Pray for the Labour party as they conduct their own leadership election and for a strong opposition to the government to aid our democracy. Pray for politicians from all sides and for our country in these turbulent times. Pray for the Scottish government as they look to the possibility of a second referendum for independence and for unity across the country both in Scotland and across the UK. Pray for the NHS and for funding gaps in services and for the teaching profession as budgets in schools are also under real term cuts. After a coach carrying British school children crashed in Eastern France pray for those who are injured, for their families and for the teachers accompanying them.

Church and Community – Pray for Bishop Peter and the senior leadership in the Diocese as they move forward into a new season of ministry without Bishop Steven. Pray for those who will working on the appointment process for a new Bishop of Sheffield, pray for discernment and for God’s will to be clear for the next appointment to our Diocese. Now the schools in our local area have all finished for the summer pray for children and teachers as they have a time of rest and recuperation and for families as they spend more time together. Pray for those who go on holiday, to be safe and for relaxation and for those who are unable to go far but that they too will find times of rest and joy to be together. Pray for the CLC bookshop staff in Sheffield after a lorry smashed into their shop window this week. Thank God there were no casualties but pray for quick repairs as there are serious structural issues after the incident.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly Linda, Sue Stewart, Derek Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer and Sylvia L. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
