Items for Prayer w/c 26th February 2017

World – After another attack in Europe using a vehicle prayer for the family and friends of those who have been injured and for the people of Heidelberg as details of this latest tragedy. After further attacks by gunmen and suicide bombers in the city of Homs in Syria continue to pray for this troubled country and the whole of the Middle East amidst continued fighting and war. After the killing of an Indian national in the US appearing to be racially motivated, pray for his family and friends in their loss and for America in turbulent times. Pray for the country and for foreign nationals living in America as incidents of racial attacks have risen after the beginning of the new presidency.

UK – After five teenagers are arrested and remanded in custody on terrorist charges in London pray for young people today and the teaching they receive. Pray for tolerance and understanding in our society in many aspects of life. Continue to pray for our government as they head towards a formal triggering of article 50 and the beginning of negotiations for Brexit. Pray that the best interests of all will prevail in this difficult situation. Continue to pray for the NHS and all those who work in the health professions. Pray for government strategies to be in the best interests of patients and political posturing will not get in the way of providing the very best care for all. Pray for those who work in social care and for the families and children they are working with.

Church and Community – After the announcement of our new Diocesan Bishop please pray for Philip North as he takes up this important role and for all those who will be under his authority. Pray for our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. As the heating in church is broken pray for a good solution to present itself and if a new boiler is required for funding to be available. Pray for pupils and staff at our local schools this week as they return after half term. As Lent begins this week pray for yourself and this to be a good time of reflection and growth in your own spiritual faith as we move towards Easter.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Ann, Linda, David, Rebecca, Tony, Cassie and Bobby, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Michael Horsfield, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
