Items for Prayer w/c 29th May 2016

World – Pray for all those who have been affected by natural disasters that have caused devastation over recent months all over the world and who are still recovering from these life changing events. Continue to pray for America after both parties move closer towards their nomination for the Presidency and as voters start to think about who will they back for top office in the autumn. After violence at various rallies around the US pray for a sense of calm and sensible debate and for a settling of tensions so the real issues can be debated and discussed. After a further deal on debt relief for Greece has been negotiated continue to pray for the country and for its people in these difficult and troubling times.

UK – As we enter the last few weeks before the referendum pray that informed and intelligent debate will continue and that the voters of this country will come to an informed and correct decision about the future of how our country will relate to the rest of Europe. Thank God that after months of negotiation, strikes and bad blood between unions, doctors and the government a potential deal has now been worked out between the two sides. Pray now that as the unions recommend this new deal to junior doctors they will feel able to accept the deal and this dispute can be brought to an end. Continue to pray for our government with regards to their education policies and continue praying for pupils in our local secondary schools taking GCSE’s and A-Levels. After significant changes in all these tests pray for children to do the best they can on the day and for them to remain calm and stress free.

Church and Community – After our deanery has agreed to plans to move forward in partnership continue to pray for local plans in our deanery and with ecumenical colleagues to work closer together and for God to guide us as a church as to how we should go about this task. As many families in our parish take the opportunity of the school holidays to get away on a break pray for rest, good family times and relaxation.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time particularly David, June and Derek Craig, Shaun, Rita Spencer, Sylvia L, Will’s Mum and Dad, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the friends and family of Harry Carnal, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
