Items for Prayer w/c 2nd July 2017

World –In a week which saw further attacks and civilian casualties across the world, pray for all victims of war and protect those who are committed to peace. Pray for all those across the world who are affected by extremism and hatred and help them to find the path back to God. Pray for all those caught up in the ongoing conflict in Mosul, for all those who have been forced to flee their homes, who have lost friends, family and possessions and who now face an uncertain future. Remember in your prayers all those affected by the travel bans in the USA; that the statesmen and rulers will have the wisdom to know and the courage to do what is right. For men and women all over the world will have justice and freedom and be able to live in security and peace.

UK – Continue to pray for all those affected by the Grenfell fire, the families of the deceased and those injured and displaced. Pray that they will be surrounded by God’s love and find comfort and hope in his teachings. Pray for the government to make informed choices and that God will be with them through this period of instability and change. Pray for our economy, for those most affected and whose status in this country is uncertain and for sensible debate. Remember in your prayers all those affected by the disaster at Hillsborough Football ground, that the family of the victims may finally be able to find peace.

Church and Community – Pray for the new Bishop of Sheffield the Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox and that he will bring unity in our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. As Dave, Verity and the boys leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings for both them and all here at Woodhouse and in the community. Pray for the development of the Mission Partnership and the continuing unity of St James.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Philip, Bobby, Jax, Paula, Savannah, Pat, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, including the family of Roy Sheldon, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
