Items for Prayer w/c 30th April 2017

World – As tensions between the US and North Korea continue to rise pray for the peace negotiators and for diplomatic means to lessen the pressures. As the US contemplates military action in Syria after suspected chemical attacks pray for an end to this terrible ongoing conflict. As the French Presidential election now goes in to a run off between a mainstream candidate and a far right party pray for the electorate to choose the right candidate who will bring unity to the country. Pray for Africa and for the increasing humanitarian crisis and for aid agencies as they work in countries where there is famine and unrest. Pray for Venezuela as unrest increases amidst economic problems. Pray for the people in this country who are being squeezed by high inflation and prices and decreasing wages because of the world economy.

UK – Now a general election has been called for 8th June pray for a good and positive campaign on all sides and for the electorate to make informed choices on all sides. As negotiations with the EU begin pray for talks on all sides to be fair and cordial. As we enter a protracted period of uncertainty for our country pray for our economy, for those most affected and who’s status in this country is uncertain and for sensible debate. Pray also for the Scottish government and for relations between them and Westminster as a further referendum is called for. In a time of uncertainty and instability pray that a sensible time frame can be found for this vote. Pray for our local schools and for the education system in our country as the government restructures the funding system.

Church and Community – Pray for the new Bishop of Sheffield the Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox and that he will bring unity in our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. Pray that now the nomination is known there will be reconciliation across parishes and the diocese. As Dave, Verity and the boys prepare to leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings for both them and all here at Woodhouse and in the community. Pray for our local ecumenical colleagues and particularly their ministers Debora, Leslie and Gary and Rosemary

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Paula, Savannah, David, Sarah, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
