Items for Prayer w/c 3rd January 2016

World – As we begin a new year continue to pray for Syria, Ukraine, Iraq, Afghanistan and various countries in Africa where there is unrest, war and famine. Pray for governments around the world as they tackle terrorism together and for solutions to be found. Pray for politicians and campaigners who are concerned about climate change pushing for countries to cut output of greenhouses gases and pray for those places that have hit by natural disasters, in many ways because of the changes to our planets climate.

UK – Pray for communities and families in Cumbria and beyond who are beginning a New Year still devastated by recent flooding. Pray for relief agencies, local government and all those who are working together to clear up and rebuild. Pray for the Queen and the royal family as we enter another New Year and for her continued support and direction. Thank God that we have a monarch who truly understands the Christian faith and is able to spread God’s message of love around the globe.

Church and Community – As schools return this week after the festive break pray for teachers, pupils and all staff. Pray for local businesses as they are the ticking heart of our community. Pray for Andrew and Leslie, Stephen and Angela and Debora as they lead our local church partners at Southern Light, Salvation Army and Trinity into another new year of mission here in Woodhouse. As Ollie and Jo move to Buxton this week pray for a good move and for them, Evie and Ezra as they settle into their new home.

Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Anita Gelsthorpe, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
