Items for Prayer w/c 4th December 2016

World – As Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn is proclaimed king in Thailand after the death of his father prayer for this country which has seen much political turmoil over the years. Pray for the government there and for the people of this country. Remember in your prayers the Middle East region and in particular Syria and pray for civilians who are caught up in fighting and are fleeing conflict. Continue to pray for all those places in our world where there is unrest, war and troubles. Pray for all those who are making decisions about the lives of these refugees as they flee conflict in their own countries and pray for compassion in these difficult situations. After the shocking plane crash in Colombia this week pray for the victims families as they mourn the death of their loved ones

UK – After hundreds of reports this week to the police of historic sexual abuse at football clubs up and down the country pray for victims of these awful crimes. Pray that proper investigations will be undertaken and where it is needed justice is done. As talks over Brexit continue pray for ministers on all sides of the debate to allow this to be a smooth process for Britain. As the high court case goes to appeal about how Article 50 should be triggered pray that the right conclusion is found which is in the best national interest for our country.

Church and Community – Continue to prayer for the vacancy-in-see committee this week as potential candidates are interviewed and they look to discern who the next bishop of Sheffield might be. As our Christmas Tree festival continues and as we go further into Advent continue to pray for people in Woodhouse and our wider community that they will receive blessings through this festival and through other services they may attend. Remember in your prayers our ecumenical partners in the village and the work they do with the elderly, young people and those who are vulnerable in our society. Pray for the wider deanery as we think through ways of how we might work together more closely.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Rebecca, Shannon, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G, Jean D, Doreen, Rosie, Jane O and Mavis. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Isobel Dale, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
