World –In a week which saw further bombing and civilian casualties across the world, pray for all victims of war and protect those who are committed to peace. Remember in your prayers the migrants making treacherous journeys from their homelands in the hope of a better life. Give them companions in their distress, hope in their wandering and safe lodging at their journeys end. Pray for the continuing commitment of World leaders to address the problems caused by climate change, that they will act in the best interests of all nations today, and all peoples’ in the future, in order to avoid catastrophic changes.
UK – Pray for all the victims of the Manchester bombing and hold the families of the victims in our hearts and prayers. Pray for healing of the hearts and minds of the people who witnessed this attack, may God comfort them in the coming days. Pray for the spirit of wisdom, understanding and tolerance to prevail in our communities so as to promote an atmosphere of peace. Now a general election has been called for 8th June pray for a good and positive campaign on all sides and for the electorate to make informed choices on all sides. As we enter a protracted period of uncertainty for our country pray for our economy, for those most affected and who’s status in this country is uncertain and for sensible debate.
Church and Community – Pray for the new Bishop of Sheffield the Very Revd Dr Pete Wilcox and that he will bring unity in our Diocese as we move forward together in mission and outreach to communities across our region. As Dave, Verity and the boys prepare to leave St James pray for good endings and new beginnings for both them and all here at Woodhouse and in the community. Pray for the development of the Mission Partnership and the continuing unity of St James.
Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly Philip, Bobby, Paula, Savannah, Pat, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G and Jean D. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, including the family of Sarah Cawthorne, Steven Ramsden and Carole Lindley, that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
