Items for Prayer w/c 8th January 2017

World – After another shooting in America in Fort Lauderdale this week pray for the victim’s families and friends as they come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. Pray for America this week as the new president is sworn in as the Obama’s leave the White House. Pray that Donald Trump will govern for all people and will be worthy of the people’s trust who have voted him in to be the President. Pray for Syria after a car bomb exploded and for the families of those who were killed. Pray for the whole country amidst continued fighting and war. As Ghana’s new president is sworn in pray for this African country and for peace and change.

UK – Pray for the NHS after claims of a crisis in the service. Pray for doctors, nurses, health professionals and all those who are working in this crucial front line service. As tube strikes and train strikes are looming in our country pray for union leaders and managers as they try to avert these strikes that will affect many ordinary working people trying to get to their places of employment. After the ambassador to the EU stood down this week continue to pray for ministers and our government as they head towards a formal triggering of article 50 and the beginning of negotiations for Brexit. Pray that the best interests of all will prevail in this difficult situation.

Church and Community – Pray for all our activities here at St James as we start to open our groups again after the winter break and as we head into a New Year pray that new ways will opened to bless people in our community. Pray for all those who are already signed up to attend our CY and Christianity Explored courses this week and over the coming weeks. Pray they will gain a new understanding of who God is and what the Christian faith can mean in their lives. Pray for local businesses and the hub they provide for many people in our community of Woodhouse.

Sick and Bereaved – Pray for all those known to us who are unwell at this time, particularly David, Rebecca, Paul, Sylvia, Jean G, Jean D, Doreen and Mavis. Pray for all those who have been bereaved this week, particularly the family and friends of Pauline Mulcrone, Gladys Drakeford, Thomas Day, Norman Goulding and Joan Hefferon that they will know God’s love and tenderness at this difficult time.
